Symbols

I’ve created the symbols on this website as outlets – expressions of my processing of themes, concepts and messages of spirit.  These symbols (like a musical composition, poetry or dance) are expressions of a theme – visual expressions of the inward contemplation of a concept, intended to provoke thoughts, images or associations (whether at the gross mental and physical level, at the subtle body level, or within the subconscious).  The most profound symbols (mandalas, yantras, sigils, etc) can effect tremendous change on the viewer at the subtle body and subconscious mind level.  It’s not for me to determine whether the symbols on these pages can impart such change within the viewer, but these symbols represent a material part of significant changes within me during the course of their creation.

In the Writings section, I give a summary of my muse and the thought process in the creation of each symbol and an account of its meaning to me.  Although my descriptions of the symbols may imply discrete, certain and objective intentions and meaning, this is not consistent with the true nature of reality.  The meaning of symbols is never fixed.  The great Swiss psychologist and psychoanalyst, Carl Gustav Jung said, “symbols imply something vague, hidden and unknown to us.”  Meanings are conventional, ephemeral and subjective – never constant.  Taoists would counsel against reviewing a symbol with a concrete (language-based interpretation of its meaning) fixed in mind, as this only limits our primordial (intuitive) method of interaction.  In that same sentiment, I offer my summaries as an explanation of my process and associations/ connotations on my path, and not intended as a limitation of the potential meaning of each symbol to the viewer.

At several points in this website, I recite that life has no meaning, but it comes loaded with tremendous purpose.  That purpose of life is to find the unicity of love behind the multiplicity of manifestations arising in (or being projected into) each moment.  With respect to these specific symbols, know that I thoroughly enjoyed myself in my meditation, contemplation and preparation of each.  These symbols were made with love and I hope that shines through.  And I hope that you too enjoy them – whether they aid your journey (help to uncover or remove energetic obscurations) or merely provide a pleasant aesthetic.

Namaste!
